Steve Says

Many of you know that my Aunt Gail passed away back in June. When she passed she left quite a legacy. She was never married but she had many “children”. She treated all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own, but she was also a teacher, and all of her students were important to her. She taught 3rd Grade at Campbell Christian School in Campbell California, a school connected to the Campbell Church of Christ. She taught there for about 40 years and was even awarded an “Educator of the Year” award by San Jose Magazine. But most importantly she was devout Christian who showed the Love of God to everyone she met. What a legacy, being able to shape and form so many lives by showing them the Love of God! The morning that she passed away she was surrounded by family, and they were singing Hymns to her. She passed away as they were singing the song “Blessed Assurance”. I want to take a moment to look at the words to the song:

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of his Spirit, washed in His blood

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long
This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long

Isn’t that a legacy that we should all strive for? One where people can look back on our lives and say, “they praised God with everything they had. You could tell Jesus was first and foremost in their life because of how they lived.” That’s the legacy I want to be known for.
