Greetings to the Oregon Church in the Precious Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

August 2026 marked the end of Winter in Mutare. Though mornings were still cold and dry, we thank God for sustaining His Church.

The month was centered on pressing forward, training and fellowship.

THEME OF THE MONTH:

Press On Toward The Goal—Phil 3:14.

SPIRITUAL NURTURE AND DOCTRINAL TEACHING:

Midweek Bible Study:

Average: 10. Attendance: 15.

Theme verse: But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ—2 Peter 3:18.

Lessons Taught:

  1. The Importance Of Daily Devotion.
  2. Guarding Sound Doctrine.
  3. Building Strong Christian Homes.

WORSHIP AND ATTENDANCE:

Lord's Day Worship:

Average Sunday Attendance: 24.

I preached two Sundays and Bro Sithole preached once.

Sunday Sermons:

  1. Press On Toward The Goal—Phil 3:18.
    Application: Encouraged members not to be discouraged by economic hardship, but to focus on eternal rewards.
  2. Light In A Dark World—Matt 5:14–16.
    Application: Called youths and adults to be examples in schools and workplaces.
  3. The Lord Is My Shepherd—Psalm 23:1ff.
    Application: God’s provision and comfort during food shortages.

HOME BIBLE STUDIES:

Studies conducted with the Kaitano, Benito, Manyeruke, Mlambo and Jacob families.

Topics:

  1. The One True Church.
  2. The Lord's Supper
  3. Standing Against False Doctrine.
  4. Hope Of Resurrection.

PERSONAL EVANGELISM AND FOLLOW-UP:

2 visitors from July services were visited and invited back.

Tract distribution done in the first week.

YOUTH MINISTRY:

Sunday School:

Average Attendance: 9.

Study Topics: Bible Heroes, Obedience and Prayer.

Youth Class:

Average Attendance: 9.

Theme: Rooted And Built Up In Him—Gal 2:6–7.

Activity:

2 youths attended the Youth Annual Lectureship in Bulawayo: 12–16 August 2026.

Focus: Youth returned challenged to stand firm in a crooked world.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

Weekly Ladies' Prayer:

Average attendance: 8.

Focus: Families, students and the work.

Ladies Annual Lectureship- Nhowe Mission:

3 ladies from Chitakatira attended.

MEN'S MINISTRY:

Men's Annual Lectureship: 27–30 August 2026, Filabusi.

  • Theme: Finishing The Race Faithfully.
  • Key Text: 2 Timothy 4:7–8.
    I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Theme Focus:
  • Perseverance in the Christian Life.
  • Spiritual Leadership of Men in the Church.
  • Guarding the Gospel in Changing Times.
  • Mentoring the Next Generation.
  • Preparing for Eternal Reward.
Key Spiritual Outcomes of the 2026 Lectureship:
  1. Strengthen Men as Spiritual Leaders of the Church.
  2. Encourage Perseverance in Faith.
  3. Equip Men to Guard Sound Doctrine.
  4. Promote Evangelism and Mentorship.
  5. Inspire Believers to Finish the Christian Race Faithfully.
  6. Encourage Spiritual Leadership for Local Church Elders and Deacons.

Graduate: Vimbainashe Praise Gushure, our second-born daughter.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  1. Students as they return to school and prepare for their end-of-year exams.
  2. Provision for families facing food shortages.
  3. Growth and unity in the Church.
  4. Wisdom for leadership in decision-making.
  5. Stopping road carnage on highways, especially on the Mutare-Chitakatira highway, resulting in loss of lives and injuries.
  6. Resources to be available for school children to continue going to school:
    School fees, stationery, uniforms, etc.
