Mission Report for August 2026 From Nhamo Mumba
Dear Brethren,
Greetings to you all in Jesus’ name. It is our great pleasure to share with you about the work done during the month of August 2026. This year, the month of August was extremely cold and was associated with severe flu, which claimed the lives of some beloved friends as well as relatives. As I write this report, some are still being cared for at home and some in hospitals.
We also had some fruitful programs during August, like:
- National Youth Lectureship
- National Ladies Lectureship
- National Men’s Lectureship
VISIT TO CHITORA SCHOOL
During the first week of August 2026, I visited Chitora School, where I preached during the school assembly on the last day of the second term. My sermon on that very day was centred on the subject of “Fearing God.” It is my prayer that we are going to meet again with these students and staff on Tuesday next week as schools open for the third term.
PRISON MINISTRY
We visited Little Kraal Prison twice during the month of August with Brother William Mukuze. We shared the gospel centred on repentance and hope. Many of these inmates are still very young men, and some promised that once they are no longer behind bars, they are going to be different people in their communities. Life in prison is very tough. Some say they have never been visited by close relatives or friends.
NATIONAL YOUTH LECTURESHIP
We had four youths from our congregation, including my son, who were able to attend the Annual National Youth Lectureship in Bulawayo from 12 to 16 August 2026. This was attended by youths from all congregations in Zimbabwe. The average attendance was 780, and the theme of the lectureship was “Empowered to Thrive,” from 2 Timothy 1:7. This lectureship shaped our youths to be true future leaders in the church when we are gone.
FUNERAL
On the 11th of August 2026, I travelled to Kariba to attend the funeral of my nephew and his wife. They were among 98 people who died in a boat accident on the 10th of August on Kariba Dam. They left two young children, aged 10 and 5 years. This was one of the worst accidents to happen in Zimbabwe. We just continue praying for all the people who lost their loved ones in that accident.
LADIES’ NATIONAL LECTURESHIP
From the 20th to the 23rd of August 2026, ladies from all congregations in Zimbabwe met at Nhowe Mission for their National Lectureship. The theme for the lectureship was “Let Thy Will, O Lord, Be Done,” from Luke 22:42. My wife and three other ladies from our congregation were also able to attend the lectureship. The average attendance was 960, and we thank God that they learned lots of good lessons, which they are also teaching the other ladies at church.
MEN’S NATIONAL LECTURESHIP
The last event in August was the Men’s National Lectureship, which was held from the 27th to the 30th of August 2026 at Filabusi in Bulawayo. The theme of the lectureship was “Finishing the Race Faithfully,” from 2 Timothy 4:4–8. This was attended by men from all congregations in Zimbabwe.
BRICKS FOR CONSTRUCTION
We are now happy that we managed to buy over 4,000 bricks towards the construction of a baptism tank, as well as another room at church. If all goes well, we look forward to beginning the work in the first week of October, as we are still trying to gather items. Please pray for this work.
PREACHING, ATTENDANCE, AND GIVING
I preached twice during the month of August and taught Bible class on one Sunday. Brother Nyastine preached twice, while Brother Zumbika taught Bible class for three Sundays. Our average attendance for August was 30.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Pray for our mission work as well as my family. Pray also for our struggling church members, as many families are struggling to survive due to the hunger in most parts of our nation. Above all, we want to thank you, brethren, for your financial support and words of encouragement towards the mission work here in Zimbabwe. May the Lord continue blessing you all. We love you all and pray for you in our daily devotions as a family.
