There appears to be a sinister side to Sam. Will he make it? Will he change? Will those at ASBA headquarters be able to direct Sam in the right direction? Will he become an ASBA agent? Will he join them on their critical mission? Each week we see our Bible lesson used to direct Sam in a better direction. And, by extension each one of us is reminded in some way of how we should live.
For over 25 years our Sunday Bible classes during our All Summer Bible Adventure (ASBA) have been introduced with a skit. With humor, God’s Word and of course – a song, we have seen so many directed to follow God’s way. For years we watched Johnny and Frankie’s big adventures and now we have Jack, Scooter, Sam, Martha and Danny. And, of course there have been so many other characters in between. So many characters and a few surpise guest appearances have made every week truly an adventure! We have watched explorers, knights, magicans, pirates, captians, cowboys, natives, and aliens and so many others.
The skits have been so cleaver and well done. Our very first ASBA back in 1997 included skits. According to my quick estimation that’s over 350 freshly written songs and skits over the years. They have taken us into the unknown frontiers of space, into magical midheaval forrests, unknown highways, city streets, science labratories, the ancient ruins of Egypt, workshops, and nearly every place conceiveable. Are there any particular themes that you remember best?
The amazing stage craft, cleaver narative, crazy wisecracks, and fun songs have made each adventure fun and memorable. Thanks to all of you who have made it your goal to put “Adventure” into our ASBA!
